Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:13-14

Life is a series of beginnings. We set an agenda, reach a goal, and then set a new agenda.  Or sometimes, we fail to reach our goal and we have to step back and re-evaluate what is was that we really wanted to achieve.  We take a fresh look and then set a new goal and start over.  Sometimes those things that we want to forget are our past failures, but there are also times we need to forget our past victories and accomplishments.  The truth is, we are not living in the past but we are living today to be the best we can be for today.  It is not about our past, although the past can affect our present and our future.  But the real question is what am I doing today?  Is my present course of action something that I should be spending my time and energies on?  Is it something that will count for eternity? With Paul we can say, I will move on from my past, the good and the bad.  I will press forward, setting new and realistic and meaningful goals for my life—for today, for tomorrow, for eternity.
