Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:13-14

We live in a world with many distractions. Our schedules are crammed with activities and when we do get caught up and have a chance to reflect, we automatically begin adding more activities to fill up the newly-discovered free time.  And with our mobile devices going with us everywhere, we have little quiet time free from outside voices.  Can we, like the apostle Paul, focus on one single goal in life—this one thing I do? Even in Paul’s day, how could he make such a claim?  Did he not eat? Not sleep?  Not have a social life or even a religious life?  Did he literally set aside one thing to achieve?  The beauty of true Christianity is that it permeates all aspects of life.  Whether I eat or drink, whatever I do, I do it all for the glory of Christ.  And like Paul, whatever we do can be an extension and an exhortation to the Christ life.  Paul was so focused and so enraptured by his devotion to Christ that everything he did was living out that devotion.  This one thing was his life and purpose, his end goal for life.  May all that we do today be a reflection of our one goal in life—the glory of Christ.
